Brittany C. Velardi, PsyD is a graduate of Rutgers University’s Graduate School of Applied and Professional Psychology (GSAPP), where she received her master’s degree in School Psychology and her doctorate in Applied and Professional Psychology. With experience working in primary and secondary school settings, as well as community outpatient facilities, she approaches therapeutic interventions utilizing a strength-based perspective.

As a certified school psychologist, Brittany has vast experience conducting and interpreting cognitive, learning, and executive functioning evaluations and integrating the insights gained to develop action plans. Through collaborative discussions, Brittany gains valuable insights into the ability level, learning style, psychological needs, social functioning, and motivational style of each of her clients and establishes a collaborative relationship that serves to facilitate continued growth. As an executive functioning tutor, Brittany has also turned to her knowledge of self-regulated learning to assist her clients in identifying, implementing, monitoring, and modifying regulatory strategies, which serve to enhance understanding, heighten motivation, and cultivate performance.

As a clinician, Brittany strives to develop a therapeutic space that allows for one to work towards whole wellness. Working with individuals who are experiencing difficulties adjusting, ADHD, anxiety, depression, dysregulation, learning differences, relational concerns, substance use, and trauma, Brittany values a systemic approach that provides the opportunity for those she works with to develop a toolbox of strategies and skills that can be utilized to empower them professionally, socially, and emotionally. Believing rapport and trust are essential, Brittany takes the time to establish a strong connection and makes herself available to directly address the questions and concerns of those she is working with.

Applying an integrative approach during her sessions, Brittany utilizes Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Client-Centered Therapy, Cognitive Behavior Therapy, Exposure Therapy, Humanistic Therapy, Mindfulness, Motivational Interviewing, and Relational techniques. Through integration and an understanding of person individuality, Brittany works collaboratively with each client to identify and achieve whole wellness. Further, Brittany strives to explore and utilize her clients’ current patterns and environments to better inform intervention and heighten engagement. For it is only when we are living and growing in an environment that truly adapts and supports us in healthy and meaningful ways that whole wellness can become a reality.
